The first Webisode chronicling the second in the VSP Global Spark series of optometric practice makeovers has gone live online. VSP GlobalSM designed VSP Global Spark to help private eyecare professionals strengthen and grow their businesses. The makeover process is chronicled through a series of entertaining Webisodes that showcase a variety of tips that can help boost the performance of eyecare practices.
For its second makeover, VSP Global Spark traveled to the practice of VSP provider Steven Curtis, OD, of Riverview Eye Associates in Columbus, OH. Eyefinity®/OfficeMate® president Steve Baker, host of the first VSP Global Spark makeover, enlisted VSP director of corporate services, Steve Hibbs, to host the second practice makeover, which was completed over an extended weekend. The first Webisode is now available online, and new Webisodes will be released every few weeks.
A Few Small Changes “At its core, VSP Global Spark is about showing private practices that a few small changes can make positive impacts on their business,” said Hibbs. “Our Webisode series offers eyecare professionals a fun and fast way to update their practice, improving both their bottom line and patient experience.”
Riverview Eye Associates’ “Spark” makeover included many VSP Global products and services, including an upgrade of its practice management software system that helped maximize the use of electronic medical records. The software upgrade by Eyefinity/OfficeMate is helping the practice go paperless, thus increasing overall productivity, enhancing the patient experience, and helping the practice position itself to apply for up to $44,000 available through the HITECH Act (Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act). Eyecare providers who are “meaningul users” of certified electronic health records, as defined by the federal government, are eligible to apply for the stimulus money which becomes available in 2011.
VSP Global Companies Work Together Riverview Eye Associates received a refreshed paint scheme and an update to its display panels and lighting provided by Eye Designs®. The practice’s patients will also have access to new eyewear choices added during the makeover, including the 2010 bebe collection, provided by Altair®, and Nike optical and sunwear, provided by Marchon® Eyewear. In addition, the practice staff participated in trainings on strategies to increase the sales of progressive addition lenses and anti-reflective (AR) treatments by VSP Optics Group.
Also available on the Web site, new makeover resources that cover topics such as Three Steps to Increasing Capture Rate, The Power of Visual Merchandising, and Tips to Choosing the Right Paint Color, are available for download.
Using these resources along with the tips shown in these engaging Webisodes will illustrate to eyecare professionals some simple techniques for upgrading their practices and ultimately increasing revenue.
